What is ‘marketing plan’?

A marketing plan outlines the specific actions you intend to carry out to interest potential customers and clients in your product and/or service and persuade them to buy the product and/or services you offer.

Marketing plan

Questions
1. Do you think that it is more important to do a marketing planning analysis before launching a product, or to proceed directly to the product launch in order to lose minimal market share to a competitor?
2. Do you think that a marketing plan should be revised and if so, when?

Dialog 1
A: I wonder if we could just go directly to the product launch, instead of doing a marketing planning analysis. I think we will lose minimal market share to our competitor. What do you think?
B: Boss, you’re right that we’d save time that way in penetrating the market, but we should first make it clear how we should go about doing it. We’d lose a lot of money. We don’t even know if the product will be profitable yet.
A: That’s true. I mean I know that if we want to ensure that the product is relevant to consumers and that our company is capable of supporting the product launch, it’s important to follow the steps of the marketing planning process.
B: You’re right. We should definitely hire more marketers to help us with the analysis.
A: Okay.

1. It is important to follow the steps of the marketing planning process, to ensure that the product is relevant to consumers, that the company is capable of supporting the product launch, and that, overall, the product will be profitable.

2. The marketing plan should be revised when there are changes either internally to the company or externally in the business environment to ensure that the plan is still relevant.
CEO ENGLISH
One of our greatest challenges has been to improve our safety record. We have made a lot of progress since 1999 with a major reduction in both our number of fatalities and our lost time injury frequency rate. It has been a consistent priority at all levels from the board room to the stope. We have many examples of excellence with Base Metals, for example, not having had a fatality in over 16 months anywhere in the world. Over the last two years we have, nonetheless, seen a slowing in the momentum of improvement. We continue to suffer injuries and fatalities amongst our 128,000 employees and 44,000 contractors at our managed operations.

It has been a consistent priority at all levels의 경우를 보자. It’s always been a priority for all(누구에게나 그것(안전성)은 항상 최우선이었다)이라고 쉽게 말할 수 있다. It has been a consistent priority at all levels(모든 계층의 사람들에게 그것은 일관된 최우선 과제였다)라고 말하는 것이 좋다.

둘째
문장 we have seen a slowing in the momentum of improvement도 마찬가지다. There has been slow improvement(그간 발전이 더뎠다)라고 쉽게 표현할 수 있지만 We have seen a slowing in the momentum of improvement(그간 완만한 상승세를 보였다)라고 좀더 상세히 표현할 수도 있다. We have seen …, History has seen…

단순한 ‘상승(improvement)’과 ‘상승세(the momentum of improvement)’의 차이는 쓰임의 정확성에 있다.
