Daewoong Pharmaceutical announced on the 6th that it has applied the smart bed monitoring system ‘thynC’ to all beds at Dongtan City Hospital, establishing an AI-based medical environment. Dongtan City Hospital, where thynC is applied, held a groundbreaking ceremony for the smart ward last month.

thynC is a smart medical system being developed in collaboration between Daewoong Pharmaceutical and Cius Technology. It uses wearable sensors attached to patients to monitor key vital signs such as heart rate, respiration, body temperature, oxygen saturation, and electrocardiogram in real-time. If any abnormal signs are detected, an alarm is immediately sent to medical staff, helping to secure the golden time even in emergency situations. It allows for easy monitoring of patient conditions even in environments where constant observation by medical staff is limited, such as at night or in isolation wards. The system is expected to provide a stable treatment environment for patients while also alleviating the caregiving burden on guardians.

This implementation at Dongtan City Hospital is significant as it is the first AI smart ward established in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province. Dongtan City Hospital decided to implement thynC in all its beds (90 beds) to enhance patient safety and improve the efficiency of medical staff.

Daewoong Pharmaceutical explained that thynC is also equipped with fall detection sensors and electronic medical record (EMR) integration functions, making it useful for preventing unexpected accidents. Vital sign records are automatically reflected in the EMR, reducing the repetitive manual input tasks of medical staff. This allows medical staff to focus on personalized nursing and treatment. Moreover, based on data collected and analyzed by AI, accurate clinical judgments can be made, improving the overall quality of medical services. Dongtan City Hospital, which has adopted thynC, plans to lead the digital transformation of local medical services. It is known to be pursuing the establishment of an AI imaging diagnosis center and the expansion of bed capacity (from 90 to 180 beds) ahead of the official opening of its new building this month.

Kim Mi-young, Administrative Director of Dongtan City Hospital, stated, “The AI smart ward with thynC is a project embodying Dongtan City Hospital’s value of prioritizing patient safety,” and added, “We will establish a ward environment where both medical staff and guardians can feel secure and set a new standard for regional healthcare.”

Cho Byung-ha, Head of Daewoong Pharmaceutical’s Digital Healthcare Division, commented, “Dongtan City Hospital, as a representative medical institution in the Hwaseong-Dongtan area, has taken the first step in implementing smart medical services that local residents can experience through the introduction of thynC,” and further noted, “Daewoong Pharmaceutical will collaborate with Dongtan City Hospital to enhance the quality of regional healthcare and lead the creation of a digital healthcare ecosystem.”

Meanwhile, Dongtan City Hospital is operating a customized integrated medical system through collaboration among various departments, including spine and joint care, as a regional community hub hospital. It is making significant efforts to establish an environment where local residents can receive medical care more easily and effectively.
