Gangnam JS Hospital, recognized as a leader in stem cell treatment for degenerative arthritis, announced on the 6th that it recently visited Doha, Qatar to discuss expanding healthcare services.

From November 2 to 5, Gangnam JS Hospital, along with Lee Hyung-hoon, the 2nd Vice Minister of Health and Welfare, the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, and Asan Medical Center, officially visited Doha, Qatar.

This visit was part of the government's efforts to strengthen healthcare cooperation with the Middle East, conducted as Vice Minister Lee Hyung-hoon officially visited Saudi Arabia and Qatar from November 2 to 5. Kim Na-min, the director of Gangnam JS Hospital, and medical staff from Asan Medical Center officially accompanied the delegation as representatives of medical institutions.

In Qatar, various discussions took place through the 1st Joint Operations Committee with Ghanim Ali Al-Mana, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Health of Qatar, including ▲expanding treatment for Qatari patients in Korea ▲training programs for Qatari medical professionals in Korea ▲expanding the presence of Korean medical professionals locally ▲collaboration in advanced technology fields.

During the meeting, Gangnam JS Hospital shared its achievements in treating degenerative arthritis through stem cell therapy and international cooperation cases. It introduced its experience of performing over 3,000 umbilical cord blood stem cell transplants and successful treatment cases of Middle Eastern royalty and high-ranking officials, discussing the potential expansion of patient referral programs from Qatar and joint research collaborations.

Additionally, discussions on collaboration in advanced medical technology fields, such as the Korean-style smart hospital model, digital healthcare, and stem cell regenerative medicine, were actively conducted locally in Qatar.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, Asan Medical Center, and Gangnam JS Hospital plan to expand the scale of Qatari government-funded patient referrals and strengthen medical training cooperation through further consultations with the Qatari Ministry of Public Health.

Lee Hyung-hoon, the 2nd Vice Minister of Health and Welfare, stated, “Saudi Arabia and Qatar are strategic key countries for the expansion of Korean medical services in the Middle East,” and added, “The government and private medical institutions will collaborate to enhance the global competitiveness of Korean medical services.”

Song Joon-seop, the representative director of Gangnam JS Hospital, expressed, “It is meaningful to participate locally in the Middle East representing Korean medical services,” and added, “We will actively cooperate to standardize non-surgical joint treatment centered on stem cell therapy globally.”
