Cosmax Bio, a health functional food ODM (Research, Development, Production) company of the Cosmax Group, has received halal certification and is expanding its strategy to penetrate the Muslim markets in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

Cosmax Bio announced on the 28th that its Shanghai factory in China has received the 'Halal Indonesia' certification from the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) in Indonesia. For this certification, the Shanghai factory underwent an evaluation of the overall production process, including the cleanliness of the manufacturing process and the halal suitability of product ingredients. It registered 12 items in four formulations suitable for the Indonesian Muslim market: liquid, jelly, tablet, and powder. In preparation for exports to the Malaysian market, where 70% of the population is Muslim, it also obtained the JAKIM halal certification.

Cosmax Bio plans to strengthen its strategy to target Muslim markets in Southeast Asia and the Middle East through this certification. Indonesia, with a Muslim population exceeding 200 million, is witnessing a rapid expansion of the global halal market. The domestic Jecheon factory has already received halal certification from the Korea Muslim Federation (KMF). Kim Cheol-hee, CEO of Cosmax Bio, stated, “With this certification, the Shanghai factory has gained the competitiveness to export K-health functional foods not only to the Chinese domestic market but also to the Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern Muslim markets.”
