The 'Overhanging Attachment' technology developed by Hong Kyung-jae, CEO of transparent orthodontics specialist SisruTech Co., Ltd., is gaining attention in the global orthodontic community.

Hong successfully used this technology to restore gingival recession without surgery, and the research results were published in the October 2025 issue of the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics Clinical Companion (AJO-DO Clinical Companion).

This paper is the first clinical report in Korea to regenerate receded gums using only transparent orthodontics, confirming clinical results where 5mm of gingival recession in the mandibular anterior region was restored to 1mm after 11 months of orthodontic treatment. It is significant for presenting the natural restoration process of alveolar bone and gingival tissue with objective data.

The 'Overhanging Attachment' is designed to precisely control the torque generated during root movement, delivering force at a position close to the center of resistance of the tooth. This enables accurate root movement, ultimately inducing gum regeneration.

Hong stated, “This research is an important achievement showing that transparent orthodontics can develop into an integrated treatment platform, including periodontal regeneration, beyond simple aesthetic treatment,” and added, “We will build the next-generation digital orthodontic ecosystem by integrating AI-based design and biomechanics research.”

The study was co-authored by Professor Park Jae-hyun of A.T. Still University in the United States, and the technology has completed patent registration domestically and internationally. This achievement is evaluated as a case where Korean digital dental technology has been recognized on the international academic stage.
