Daewoong Pharmaceutical’s ring-type ambulatory blood pressure monitor “CART BP pro” will be introduced at 17 regional branches of the Korea Association of Health Promotion nationwide.

Daewoong Pharmaceutical announced on the 11th that it has begun supplying CART BP pro to the Korea Association of Health Promotion and will support follow-up management for individuals showing abnormal blood pressure findings after health checkups.

The company explained that, with this introduction, examinees whose health checkups identify abnormal blood pressure will be able to measure blood pressure fluctuations over 24 hours during daily activities and sleep.

According to Daewoong Pharmaceutical, blood pressure measured in the clinic can differ from usual blood pressure depending on the surrounding environment or the time of measurement. The company stated that 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring is used to identify conditions such as “white-coat hypertension,” where blood pressure is elevated only in medical institutions; “masked hypertension,” where measurements are normal in the clinic but elevated in daily life; and “nocturnal hypertension,” where blood pressure rises during sleep.

CART BP pro is a ring-type, cuffless ambulatory blood pressure monitor developed by Sky Labs and supplied by Daewoong Pharmaceutical. It measures 24-hour blood pressure fluctuations based on biometric signals collected by a photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor and provides time-specific blood pressure information. Unlike conventional cuff-type devices that repeatedly compress the arm, it is worn in the form of a ring, which the company said reduces the burden associated with long-term measurement.

CART BP pro has been covered by the national health insurance system since June 2024. It has been introduced at more than 1,800 medical institutions in Korea, including Seoul National University Hospital, Severance Hospital, Samsung Medical Center, and Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital, and is reportedly being used for more than 240,000 cumulative 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure measurements.

Daewoong Pharmaceutical stated that, with this supply agreement as a starting point, it plans to expand a follow-up management model that links abnormal blood pressure findings detected in health checkups with 24-hour blood pressure monitoring and continuous management.
