LG Uplus announced on the 6th that its integrated account management service (IDaaS, Identity as a Service) “AlphaKey” has become the first IDaaS service in Korea to obtain the Cloud Service Security Certification (CSAP) SaaS (Software as a Service) standard grade.

The Cloud Service Security Certification system is a scheme under Article 23-2 of the “Cloud Computing Development and User Protection Act,” through which the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) certifies whether cloud service providers comply with information security standards. CSAP certification is considered an essential requirement for supplying cloud services to the public sector.

AlphaKey is a cloud-based integrated account management service introduced by LG Uplus to strengthen corporate customers’ account and access rights management. It centrally manages employees’ account information, business systems, and SaaS-specific access rights, and enables the use of various business services with a single account. It also detects abnormal activities, such as unusual logins or misuse of privileges, in real time to allow proactive responses to security threats.

In particular, AlphaKey enhances security by applying homomorphic encryption, which processes data while it remains encrypted, thereby preventing the risk of account information leakage. In addition, by utilizing post-quantum cryptography (PQC)-based authentication technology, it can more securely protect sensitive information and key business assets even in a quantum computing environment.

With this certification, AlphaKey has secured a foundation for expanding its services to government agencies, public institutions, and state-owned enterprises. As AI, cloud, and SaaS-based work environments rapidly expand in the public sector, demand is rising for security services that can centrally manage user accounts and access rights.

LG Uplus is pushing ahead with the development of AlphaKey optimized for public cloud environments and is currently conducting free proof-of-concept (PoC) projects with some public institutions. Based on the PoC results, the company plans to improve the completeness of the service and, as early as the first quarter of next year, officially launch AlphaKey for public institutions.

Meanwhile, LG Uplus first unveiled AlphaKey and began recruiting beta service customers at the “Quantum Korea 2024” exhibition in June 2024. It opened a preliminary beta service in September of the same year. The company officially launched the service in January last year and began supplying it to a variety of industries, including finance, healthcare, and public institutions.
