SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won has called for a swift and comprehensive artificial intelligence transformation (AX) at the group level with heightened intensity. His vision is to build infrastructure that creates organization-wide performance beyond simple personal work assistance, and through this fundamentally innovate the way work is done.
According to SK Group on the 14th, Chey attended the “2026 New Icheon Forum” held at the SKMS Research Institute in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, from the 11th to the 13th, where he underscored a major shift toward AI (artificial intelligence) transition–centered management. At the event, Chey stated, “It is time to enter AX in a 360-degree, all-out manner at full speed,” urging rapid execution by management and all members of the organization.
The New Icheon Forum is an integrated event that combines the former “Management Strategy Meeting,” where executives gathered to discuss growth plans, and the “Icheon Forum,” where employees convened for discussions. Chairman Chey, Senior Vice Chairman Chey Jae-won, SUPEX Council Chairman Chey Chang-won, and chief executive officers (CEOs) of major affiliates all took part. At this year’s forum, participants held discussions under the theme “Disruptive Innovation Brought by AI: A Major Shift to AX-Centered Management.”
Chey described the first stage of AX as “redefining each person’s work and identifying what and how to innovate through AI.” He stressed that for AX, a foundation must first be established to identify problems and enable improvements.
Chey went on to say that AI utilization must evolve from “my AI” to “our AI,” which leads to organization-wide performance. He noted, “More than 90% of our members are using AI,” adding, “We need AI that goes beyond AI used at an individual level and connects what we do to outcomes for the entire organization.”
To this end, Chey announced that the group will introduce a “one person, one agent” system. An AI agent is an AI assistant–type system based on generative AI that understands the user’s work objectives and performs tasks such as data search and summarization, document creation, and schedule management. Chey also revealed a plan to create dozens of “chairman avatar agents” for himself so that they can communicate directly with executives and employees at each affiliate and with other agents.
Chey emphasized that the essence of AX is “operational improvement.” He said, “The ability to break through numerous challenges and respond to future opportunities ultimately comes from operational improvement,” adding, “AX is the best means to enhance the execution power of operational improvement.”
He also expressed strong confidence in SK Group’s capabilities within the global AI industry landscape. Chey assessed, “It is rare to find a company that possesses full-stack competitiveness, from memory semiconductors to data center infrastructure, energy, and electrification capabilities.” At the same time, he stressed, “If we do not execute a full-speed, all-encompassing AX right now, this golden opportunity will not come again.”
At the forum, SK’s management formed a consensus on the need to fundamentally redesign business processes themselves and resolved that “even if we start small, we should act first and scale up quickly.” At the venue, the group’s AI capabilities were visibly demonstrated, drawing attention as the AI agent “SKY” summarized and presented the meeting content in real time, and a virtual AI panel representing various job grades participated in the discussions.
