Idong Bioscience, a health functional food subsidiary of Idong Pharmaceutical Group, announced on the 12th that it participated in “Probiota Americas 2026” held in Vancouver, Canada, and presented its latest research achievements related to the microbiome.

Probiota Americas is an international expo for academic and industrial exchange in the microbiome field and was held this year from the 9th to the 11th. Idong Bioscience, which operates microbiome as its core business, participates in Probiota Americas every year to share its functional ingredients and technologies and to seek business opportunities. Microbiome is a collective term for microbial communities and their genomes that exist in specific environments such as the human body. It is a portmanteau combining “microbe” and “genome.”

This year, Idong Bioscience set up an exhibition booth at the venue, actively promoted its microbiome-related businesses such as probiotics and postbiotics, and presented its latest academic research results in poster format. Probiotics refer to live microorganisms (live bacteria) that have beneficial effects in the gut. Postbiotics are the metabolites (inactivated cells and active components) produced when these beneficial bacteria consume nutrients.

The three topics selected by the organizer from Idong Bioscience’s presentations were: animal experiments and human clinical trials on sleep quality improvement with Bacillus coagulans IDCC1201 (SPORABLE); and safety studies on Lacticaseibacillus paracasei IDCC3402, a new strain derived from the vaginal microbiota of Korean women, among others.

In particular, the human clinical study of Bacillus coagulans IDCC1201, recently published in Nutrients, an international journal indexed in SCIE, and the research results linking Idong Bioscience’s functional ingredient utilizing this strain, reportedly attracted significant attention.

An Idong Bioscience official stated, “Through this event, it was possible to gauge Idong Bioscience’s strong research and development (R&D) capabilities and business competitiveness in the microbiome field,” adding, “Based on these research outcomes, the company plans to expand the development of functional ingredients and products and accelerate its penetration into domestic and overseas markets.”

Idong Bioscience, founded in 2016, is a specialized health functional food company based on lactic acid bacteria and probiotics, and holds data on more than 5,000 strains, along with multiple patents and proprietary technologies.
