Energy innovation tech company Synergy Co., Ltd. announced on the 22nd that it has been finally selected in the energy sector of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ “2026 Deep-Tech Innovation Startup Project (DIPS).”

The Deep-Tech Innovation Startup Project (DIPS) is a program to foster deep-tech startups founded within the last 10 years in 12 new industries across six strategic industries, under which a total of 120 companies have been selected. The agreement period runs until December 2028, and Synergy will receive the maximum support amount of KRW 200 million. After the three-year period, the top 10% of companies will be connected to Global DIPS and may receive up to KRW 500 million in additional support over two years.

Established in 2019, Synergy has set leadership in the VPP (Virtual Power Plant) market as its vision, and operates with its headquarters in Ulsan, a Pangyo office, a Hwaseong R&D center, a U.S. subsidiary, and a San Francisco Plug and Play branch. It had attracted cumulative investment of KRW 12.8 billion as of 2022, and recorded annual sales of KRW 7.8 billion and cumulative sales of KRW 50.9 billion in 2025.

Its main business consists of two pillars: ESS-based intelligent demand management and AI-based energy optimization. The ESS-based intelligent demand management business provides demand response (DR) services using 526MWh of ESS. The AI-based energy optimization business achieves improvements in power quality and reductions in energy costs through data center power stabilization solutions and industrial/commercial behind-the-meter conservation voltage reduction (BTM CVR) solutions.

A Synergy Co., Ltd. official stated, “This DIPS selection is the result of Synergy’s energy innovation technologies and business model being recognized at the level of national strategic industries,” adding, “Building on this support, the company will accelerate technological advancement in the VPP market and expansion into global markets.”
