Samsung Electronics has embarked on a collaboration with global big tech and telecommunications companies to lead in 6G wireless communication technology. On the 23rd, Samsung Electronics announced its participation in the 'Verizon 6G Innovation Forum' led by the US telecommunications company Verizon.

The forum includes major companies in the IT and telecommunications sectors such as Meta, Ericsson, Nokia, and Qualcomm. They aim to build and commercialize the 6G ecosystem by jointly researching new user experiences, devices, and network designs.

Key activities include discovering new spectrum bands, conducting bandwidth tests, strengthening cooperation with global standard organizations, and establishing 6G research labs for prototype development and field testing.

Samsung Electronics plans to focus on developing communication technologies necessary for the 6G era by utilizing AI-based wireless communication technology to discover innovative user experiences. Jeong Jin-guk, Vice President and Head of the Next Generation Communication Research Center at Samsung Research, stated, "We will accelerate the 6G era by verifying AI and network innovation technologies with global partners that will lead future wireless communications."

Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics and Verizon pioneered the introduction of virtualized base stations in 2020 and began commercial services. Building on this, they are collaborating on AI-based next-generation base stations and transitioning to 6G technology. Samsung Electronics continues to expand its 6G research and technological cooperation with telecommunications operators, centered around the Next Generation Communication Research Center.
