LG CNS has become the first South Korean company to secure a contract for building an overseas artificial intelligence (AI) data center.

On the 6th, LG CNS announced that it had signed a contract for the construction of an AI data center for Indonesian company KMG through its joint venture 'LG Sinar Mas Technology Solution' with Sinar Mas Group, the third-largest conglomerate in Indonesia.

This project involves constructing a super-large AI data center in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, which will accommodate over 100,000 servers simultaneously. The center will be an 11-story building (with a total floor area of 46,281 square meters) and will have a power capacity of 30MW (megawatts).

LG CNS will oversee infrastructure projects worth KRW 100 billion, including cooling systems, power, and communications. The company will leverage its core competencies within the group. In addition to its top-tier capabilities in data center design, construction, and operation, LG Electronics' data center cooling technology and LG Energy Solution's battery solutions will be applied. To address the heat generation issue of the AI data center, both traditional air cooling systems and liquid cooling systems, which directly cool servers using refrigerants, will be introduced.

Hyun Shin-kyun, CEO of LG CNS, stated, "We will further expand the AI data center business to global regions, including Southeast Asian markets such as Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia."
