An expo showcasing trends and information on global future cities, artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and advanced new technologies will be held in Daegu.
The city of Daegu will host the '2025 Future Innovation Tech Expo (FIX)' at EXCO in Buk-gu from the 22nd to the 25th. This marks the second year of the integrated exhibition of future industries such as mobility, robotics, and information and communication technology (ICT) since last year. The goal is to evolve into a Korean version of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in the United States.
Earlier this year, the city established the 'FIX Promotion Team' to ensure the success of the expo and future growth. Efforts have been focused on attracting new content centered on world-renowned innovative technologies. Despite challenging economic and industrial conditions due to U.S. tariffs, over 50 new exhibitors and the first-ever global content demonstrations in Korea have been secured, with final preparations for the event underway.
● A Preview of FIX This year's FIX is already drawing attention with technologies being showcased for the first time in Korea. In the mobility sector, the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) 'X2' aircraft by Xiaopeng, which garnered global attention at CES, will be unveiled in Korea for the first time. The real-life demonstration of HL Robotics' autonomous parking robot 'Parky', which was featured at the government's first core regulatory rationalization strategy meeting, will also be available. Additionally, the 'AI Mobility Innovation Special Exhibition' will offer various innovative technologies and attractions connected to citizens' lives.

In the robotics sector, humanoids resembling humans are expected to become mainstream. Airobot, representing K-humanoids, will showcase the bipedal 'Alice', while Unitree and Youngin Mobility will demonstrate 'humanoid boxing', where humanoids equipped with headgear and boxing gloves exchange punches and footwork like humans, for the first time in Korea. Additionally, Denmark's Universal Robots, the world's leading collaborative robot company, and Japan's Epson, the leader in horizontal articulated robots, will present new technologies.
In the ICT sector, Upstage and Ruiten, selected for the national AI consortium, will collaborate with local companies to create the 'National AI Pavilion'. Companies such as Isupetasys, which has grown into a global AI semiconductor materials, parts, and equipment company, Telechips, the leading fabless company for automotive semiconductors, and Megazone Cloud will participate for the first time.
This year's conference will feature participation from international companies and institutions, including the Canadian Vector AI Institute co-founded by Geoffrey Hinton, the creator of deep learning and a leading authority on AI, NASA, Boston Dynamics, Rivian, Germany's Fraunhofer, KUKA Robotics, Denmark's Universal Robots, Japan's Boldly, and Taiwan's Pegatron. Domestic and international company representatives, including Ruiten, Naver, LG Innotek, and Hyundai Motor, will also participate to share insights on future industries. Additionally, Lee Sedol, the legendary Go player who played a historic match against AI AlphaGo, and popular YouTuber Heo Sung-beom from KAIST will be present at the FIX event.
● Daegu's Leap as a Leading AX City
The unique business networking at FIX is expected to provide an opportunity for Daegu to develop into the AI robotics capital. This year, the proportion of overseas buyers from Europe and North America, including high-purchasing power companies like Continental, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and GM, has increased. Representatives from Japan's largest telecommunications companies, NTT and NEC, will also attend FIX. The level of large enterprise purchasing consultations, involving companies such as Hanwha, SK Hynix, HD Hyundai, Samsung SDS, and POSCO, will be significantly enhanced through cooperation with the Shared Growth Committee.
Recently, the city has accelerated the AX transformation of regional core industries such as mobility and robotics, following the exemption of the preliminary feasibility study for the 'Regional Base AI Transformation (AX) Innovation Technology Development Project'. As a result, FIX is expected to be a meaningful event that demonstrates the region's commitment to aligning with the new government's future industry policies by installing joint pavilions in collaboration with local institutions and companies for each exhibition hall.
Hong Sung-joo, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs of Daegu City, stated, "Through the successful hosting of FIX, we will showcase Daegu's vision as the AI robotics capital and AX R&D hub to both domestic and international audiences."
