AI-based drug discovery company NeuroBV announced on the 6th that it has been selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ private investment-led technology startup support program TIPS (Tech Incubator Program for Startup).

NeuroBV plans to conduct non-clinical studies using its oral Alzheimer’s disease therapeutic candidate ‘NBB-116’ and its artificial intelligence (AI)-based drug development platform ‘NeuroADMET’. Non-clinical studies are conducted prior to human clinical trials to verify a drug’s efficacy and safety, among other factors.

NBB-116 has so far been studied in animals and other models to assess the drug’s efficacy, its mechanism of action in the body, its ability to reach the brain, and any potential safety issues. NeuroBV has received a decision for domestic patent registration and is also pursuing international patent applications and reviewing whether the technology can be used overseas without infringing related patents.

Through this TIPS project, the company plans to additionally develop NBB-116 drug candidates and secure other candidate substances. It will also further advance the functions of NeuroADMET, its AI-based drug development platform. Based on this, the company intends to continue research needed to move into human clinical trials in the future.

NeuroBV is pursuing joint research with domestic and overseas pharmaceutical companies and plans to promote technology transfer to foreign pharmaceutical firms after entering clinical trials.
