Opticore, a company specializing in optical communication solutions, announced on the 18th that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Korea Livestock Data to build a modular container AI data center.

Through this agreement, the two companies plan to expand mutual cooperation in various areas such as sales, investment, and manufacturing, in addition to building data centers, to create synergy.

Modular container data centers are next-generation infrastructure capable of rapidly providing large-scale services through high-density and high-efficiency structures. According to GIA Global Industry Analysis, the global market size is expected to reach approximately USD 87.6 billion by 2030. As the environment for data generation diversifies, the need for easily expandable modular structures is increasing, and the government is also strengthening support for investment in data centers and AI infrastructure through measures such as expanding investment tax credits, regulatory innovation, and simplifying licensing procedures.

Opticore will promote the advancement and commercialization of container AI data centers based on its core optical communication technology. In particular, mobile container-type data centers are expected to expand the market as they have lower initial investment burdens, making them suitable for export to Southeast Asia and developing countries, as well as for use as backup centers and hybrid data centers.

Korea Livestock Data has accumulated experience in the introduction and operation of container data centers through its own farm AI solution, 'Farmsplan.' This solution has proven its return on investment by reducing electricity costs to about one-third of the previous level, and its All-In-One package configuration allows for quick introduction and operation without the need for specialized personnel or infrastructure.

Through this collaboration, Opticore plans to diversify its product portfolio, including 800Gbps optical transceivers and switches for data centers, and accelerate its penetration into the domestic and international data center markets. Furthermore, it aims to continue technological innovation with 5G communication and AI data centers as its two main pillars, and strengthen its dominant position in the global optical communication module market.
