“The ‘reinvention of the PC’ is as significant an event as the evolution of the telephone into the smartphone.”
NVIDIA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jensen Huang redefined the PC as a “personal supercomputer,” signaling the advent of the artificial intelligence (AI) PC era. It heralds a time when data centers move into PCs and individuals run their own AI at their desks. As NVIDIA, which had focused on AI accelerators for large-scale data centers, enters the PC market, its “AI memory alliance” with Korea is expected to strengthen further.
● “An era when every household brings in an AI supercomputer”
On the 1st (local time), Huang took the stage for the keynote speech at “GTC Taipei 2026,” a side event of the IT trade show “COMPUTEX 2026,” held at the Taipei Music Center in Taiwan, and declared that he would “change 40 years of PC history.” He also unveiled an AI PC chip that had drawn strong interest in the market. Holding “RTX Spark” for Windows PCs, developed in cooperation with Microsoft (MS), he explained, “There will be a change comparable to what Windows 95 did in popularizing computers.”
RTX Spark is an “AI PC chip” that integrates NVIDIA’s Blackwell graphics processing unit (GPU), Grace central processing unit (CPU), and high-performance memory. NVIDIA aims to upgrade the “brain” of PCs, currently dominated by Intel and AMD, with its AI chip. In this scenario, the PC becomes an AI data center on the desk, as well as a supercomputer or AI agent.
Huang said, “Just as every home today has a TV, dishwasher, audio system, and game console, you will have an AI agent computer at home,” adding, “The computer will run all your agents, operate all your assistants, and they will always be doing all sorts of work for you.” NVIDIA plans to launch desktops and laptops equipped with RTX Spark in the second half of the year (July–December).
If NVIDIA expands its scope from its existing core business of AI server chips to AI PCs and other areas, demand for Korean memory from companies such as Samsung Electronics and SK hynix is also expected to surge. AI PCs require higher-performance memory than conventional PCs. On the same day, Huang said of “Vera Rubin,” an AI accelerator to be released in the second half, that it had “entered full-scale production,” and added, “It will be equipped with sixth-generation high bandwidth memory (HBM4) from Samsung Electronics, SK hynix, and Micron.”
● Jensen Huang, this time a “soju-beer” physical AI meetup
On this day, SK Chairman Chey Tae-won also attended NVIDIA’s keynote venue, drawing attention. SK hynix CEO and President Kwak Noh-jung and AI Infrastructure President Kim Joo-sun, along with other members of SK hynix’s management, gathered in one place. After the event, Huang hosted a “Korean Partner Night” at a restaurant in Taipei with key executives from major Korean companies, including Samsung Electronics, SK hynix, Hyundai Motor Group, and LG Electronics, showcasing cooperation with Korean firms.
Meeting with reporters, he mentioned the possibility of holding NVIDIA’s annual developer conference “GTC” in Seoul and hinted at potential investment in Korea, saying, “NVIDIA hopes to contribute to the development of robotics in Korea.”
Huang is scheduled to visit Korea immediately after completing the main COMPUTEX 2026 program. From the 5th, he is expected to meet with SK Chairman Chey Tae-won, Hyundai Motor Chairman Chung Euisun, LG Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, Doosan Chairman Park Jeong-won, and Naver Global Investment Officer (GIO) Lee Hae-jin. He is moving to broaden the scope of the physical AI alliance.
Companies reported to be meeting with Huang on this day also recorded notable share price gains. LG Electronics, which hit the upper limit with a 29.86% increase, as well as Doosan Robotics (29.95%) and Naver (16.03%), were representative examples.
Meanwhile, for this gathering, NVIDIA is reported to have reserved a pork belly (samgyeopsal) restaurant in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong District, Seoul, for the evening of the 5th. This has led to predictions that, following last year’s much-discussed “chicken meetup,” this time there will be a “samgyeopsal soju-beer meetup.”
