On the 27th (local time), Korea and Brazil signed seven memorandums of understanding (MOUs) aimed at strengthening cooperation in sectors including the space industry, supply chains, energy, artificial intelligence (AI), and semiconductors, as well as other advanced strategic industries, on the occasion of a bilateral summit.

Through this, the two sides agreed to enhance the efficiency of launches using Brazilian launch sites by domestic private launch vehicle companies and to support Korean companies’ entry into the Brazilian space market through government-led cooperation in the space sector.
In the energy cooperation sector, the two countries agreed to strengthen cooperation in renewable energy, power grids, smart grids, and energy efficiency to accelerate the energy transition. Through policy and technological cooperation and the identification of joint projects, companies from both countries will be able to cooperate, laying the groundwork for Korean companies’ entry into the Brazilian market.
In the industrial technology sector, the two sides signed an MOU to promote technological cooperation in seven areas: △ basic elements of supply chains △ bioeconomy △ sustainable fuels △ industrial decarbonization △ low-carbon and sustainable materials △ advanced strategic industries (AI, semiconductors, automobiles, shipbuilding, batteries). In the sports sector, MOUs were signed to expand overall exchanges and cooperation in sports, including: △ human exchanges involving athletes, experts, and coaches △ sharing of sports-related policies and experiences △ cooperation related to international events. These are the first sports cooperation MOUs between the two countries. Korea plans to strengthen its sports capabilities by expanding human exchanges such as athletes and coaches with Brazil, which has strong international competitiveness in various disciplines including football and volleyball.
In the education sector, the two sides signed three Memorandums of Cooperation (MOCs) on: △ cooperation in technical and vocational education and higher education △ promotion of Korean language education in Brazil’s formal school system △ sharing of education policies and experiences in artificial intelligence (AI) and the digital sector. These are the first education-related documents to be concluded in 60 years, since the 1966 Korea-Brazil Cultural Agreement. They are expected to revitalize Korean language education reflecting Brazilian students’ demand for learning Korean and to expand student exchanges between the two countries.

In the film sector, the two countries renewed a memorandum of understanding first signed in 2015, agreeing to expand events for co-production and to increase opportunities for screening each other’s films. They also agreed to step up the sharing of information and personnel related to the film industry and film policies.
In the cyber security cooperation sector, the two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in enhancing responses to cyber incidents, joint research and policy exchanges, and human resource development.
