“What kind of robot is this?”
On the 29th, visitors were drawn to Daedong Robotics' transport robot at the '2025 A FARM SHOW'. The robot's car-like exterior caught their attention. Questions and exclamations from visitors filled the venue, such as “Can the loading area of the transport robot be expanded?” and “It's fascinating that a larger pest control robot is being developed.”
Daedong Robotics' transport robot, capable of carrying up to 300 kg, can be deployed as a 'worker' in agricultural fields, equipped with an autonomous driving system. Even if a manual driving model is selected, it can be easily operated via remote control or wire. Daedong Robotics is also developing the country's first voice-recognition autonomous transport robot, aiming for release next year. Kim Soo-jin, the head of Daedong Robotics' Robot Marketing Team, explained, “Given the high number of elderly in rural areas, we thought a robot that understands speech well is necessary,” adding, “It can check the weather and even follow work instructions.”
Various new technologies from AgTech (advanced agriculture) companies were introduced at the A FARM SHOW. The robotics solution company The Robotics showcased a transport robot 'BotBox' that follows workers. Baek Yoo-hyun (61), who breeds butterflies in Sacheon-si, Gyeongsangnam-do, commented on BotBox, “I've had difficulties moving pots due to my back issues, but using a machine seems convenient,” and added, “The ease of operation, similar to using a TV or air conditioner, also seems useful.”
AI-applied agricultural technology also captivated visitors. At Farm Hannong, which developed the application 'Farms All' that uses AI to adjust crop cultivation environments and provide tailored consulting, questions from visitors were continuous. Farms All automatically collects environmental data such as temperature and humidity with monitoring equipment and controls the environment. It can also diagnose pests and diseases through photo capture. Seong-won (22), a student from Yeonam University, remarked, “There's a perception that agriculture is traditional and unchanging, but seeing AI being utilized seems like a positive change.”
Intflow offers an AI livestock healthcare solution called 'Edge Farm'. It helps manage livestock health by remotely identifying pigs' activity levels and feed intake. It can also measure the number of pigs and their average weight. Moon Seong-min, a senior manager at Intflow, stated, “Customers cite reduced work time as the biggest advantage,” and added, “The simple usage makes it easy for foreign workers to use without difficulty.”
The agricultural corporation Green presented a smart farm startup model for young farmers. A vertical tower-type smart farm exceeding 2.5 meters was densely filled with basil. Many visitors showed interest, such as smelling the basil.
Green not only constructs smart farms but also provides cooperative farming solutions for small-scale farmers. Kwon Ki-pyo, CEO and a young successor farmer who founded Green in 2016, emphasized, “Young farmers often face difficulties from the start of farming,” and added, “Our goal is to assist young farmers through technology that allows dense cultivation in small spaces and securing large sales channels.”
Agricultural technologies being developed under government initiative were also exhibited. At the Rural Development Administration booth, various new varieties of rice, apples, peaches, and agricultural machinery like automatic transplanters for peppers and cabbages were introduced. Lee Ji-hyun (43), a fourth-year returnee to farming, said, “The rice variety effective in preventing diabetes was memorable,” and added, “As a farmer and a consumer, I gained information on newly developed technologies.”
