Second Team Connecting Companies and Talent

IT Donga: Hello, CEO Choi Jae-woong. Could you please introduce Second Team?

CEO Choi Jae-woong: Hello, I am Choi Jae-woong of Second Team. Second Team is a company specializing in AI recruitment solutions, striving to innovate the recruitment market with data and technology under the mission of 'connecting companies with the best talent.'

We operate the global recruitment platform 'Supercoder.' Supercoder is a global talent recruitment platform that selects skilled individuals through its own verification system and connects them with suitable developers for companies through a matching system. This supports companies in finding suitable global talent more easily. Since the launch of Supercoder in 2021, we have achieved cumulative sales of KRW 8.7 billion, with sales of KRW 3.2 billion recorded last year alone. Currently, approximately 200,000 developers are registered on Supercoder.

Developing AI Interviewer to Solve Recruitment Process Inefficiencies

IT Donga: You launched the AI Interviewer on July 2. What led to the development of this service?

CEO Choi Jae-woong: Over the past four years of operating Supercoder, we have directly managed over 20,000 developer interviews and recruitment processes for talent verification. Through this, we have keenly felt the inefficiencies of recruitment and the difficulties of talent verification faced by companies.

The biggest issue is the inefficient process. Recruiters invest a lot of time and resources in coordinating interview schedules between interviewers and applicants. Due to limited manpower and resources, there is often not enough time to thoroughly review resumes.

Bias and inaccuracy in evaluations are also challenges faced by recruiters. Most interviewers have not received professional interview training. As a result, evaluations can vary depending on the interviewer's personal tendencies or condition. Additionally, as job types diversify and new ones emerge, it has become difficult to professionally assess applicants' capabilities.

Moreover, there is an increasing number of applicants using generative AI to write their applications, making it difficult to assess their actual capabilities based solely on documents. There are even comments in the field that the document screening process is becoming meaningless.

We developed the AI Interviewer by applying AI technology to solve the chronic problems companies face in the talent recruitment process.

IT Donga: It seems that the application of AI in human resource management (HR) solutions is increasing.

CEO Choi Jae-woong: That's correct. Applying AI technology in the HR field is already a global trend. According to the 2025 Global Recruitment Guide published by the recruitment platform HireVue, the adoption rate of AI by HR professionals surged from 58% in 2024 to 72% in 2025. Furthermore, 83% of companies in North America are reported to be applying AI solutions in their HR processes.

This trend shows that AI is becoming a key tool in various areas such as applicant data analysis, automation of repetitive tasks, minimizing bias, and supporting objective evaluations. It is expected that AI will continue to lead the improvement of competitiveness and productivity in the global HR field.

Comprehensive Verification of Applicant Capabilities, AI Interviewer

IT Donga: Please introduce the AI Interviewer. Could you also discuss its main features and differentiators?

CEO Choi Jae-woong: The AI Interviewer is an AI interview agent service that assists in data-driven objective talent selection. Through resume and job-based interviews, it assesses applicants' strengths and job suitability, helping companies hire suitable talent quickly and efficiently based on objective criteria.

We completed the development of the minimum viable product (MVP) last March and enhanced it to improve consistency and minimize hallucinations before officially launching it on July 2. During the service development, we utilized data collected over four years of interviews and collaborated with experts who handled recruitment-related tasks at global big tech companies with systematic HR processes. We aimed to align with global corporate recruitment processes and techniques.

With the AI Interviewer, hundreds or thousands of applicant interviews can be completed in just 1-2 days. It can operate 24/7, eliminating the need to coordinate schedules between interviewers and applicants and reducing the time needed for reviewing applicant documents. Internal tests showed that the overall recruitment time could be reduced by up to 50%.

Applicants can also interview without time and location constraints. Those who find it difficult to set aside time for interviews or live far away can participate without burden. This can increase interview participation rates.

Data-driven in-depth interviews are also possible. Existing solutions mostly use a video recording method with predetermined questions, but the AI Interviewer verifies applicants' actual capabilities through conversational interviews like a real interviewer. It analyzes applicants' resumes and job descriptions to design optimal questions and generates additional questions in real-time based on responses to uncover hidden capabilities and genuine thoughts.

Providing consistent expert-level interviews without bias is another advantage. It offers applicants a fair and efficient interview environment to accurately express their capabilities and allows them to be evaluated based on the same criteria without the interviewer's subjectivity or bias. Companies can accurately identify talent based on data, reducing the failure rate of recruitment.

AI Interviewer operation process / Source=Second Team

IT Donga: How does the AI Interviewer operate?

CEO Choi Jae-woong: Recruiters only need to invite applicants to the AI interview. Applicants can respond to the interview at their most convenient time and place.

During the interview, the AI Interviewer analyzes the applicant's resume and the company's job posting in real-time to generate customized questions and asks in-depth follow-up questions based on the responses to comprehensively verify the applicant's capabilities. Once the interview is completed, the AI Interviewer analyzes the entire interview content and generates an evaluation report for the recruiter.

Through this, recruiters can objectively and efficiently evaluate applicants, quickly selecting the necessary talent. It reduces the time and effort required for recruitment and repetitive tasks, increasing productivity.

IT Donga: Are there any cases where the AI Interviewer has been applied to companies since its launch? What has been the response from companies?

CEO Choi Jae-woong: Recently, a company used the AI Interviewer for recruitment. They had to interview about 150 applicants, which was too many to handle, but they completed the interviews in just two days using the AI Interviewer. We received feedback that it significantly reduced the time and resources of the recruiters.

Another company was trying to hire members for a new job category but was concerned about the interview method as there were no experts in the related field within the company. They were able to easily complete capability verification through the AI Interviewer.

Additionally, there were responses that the online interview method helped reduce time and costs and allowed for fair evaluation of applicants without prejudice related to physical characteristics, regional ties, or academic connections.

Upcoming Features: Culture Fit Verification and AI Interview Assistant

IT Donga: Are there any features planned to be added to the AI Interviewer?

CEO Choi Jae-woong: We are preparing features to further comprehensively verify applicant capabilities. First, we plan to introduce a 'Culture Fit Verification' feature to assess whether applicants align with the company's unique culture and values. Most companies want to verify not only job capabilities but also culture fit during recruitment. However, not many companies systematically verify this. We aim to add a feature to objectively verify applicants' culture fit, referencing the culture fit verification processes of global big tech companies.

We also plan to add an 'AI Interview Assistant' feature to support face-to-face interviews. This feature will analyze applicant responses in real-time and recommend additional questions when interviewers conduct face-to-face interviews with applicants. We also plan to add a feature that records and analyzes the entire interview content to support data-driven final decision-making.

We intend to continuously add various languages to support companies wishing to hire global talent. Currently, we support Korean and English, and we plan to add Japanese and Vietnamese within the year.

IT Donga: Finally, could you share Second Team's future plans and goals?

CEO Choi Jae-woong: First, we will strive to ensure that the AI Interviewer quickly establishes itself in the market. To this end, we plan to offer the AI Interviewer for free and add integration features with recruitment management solutions widely used by companies. This is to provide more customers with the opportunity to easily experience it.

We are also accelerating our global expansion. We established a U.S. subsidiary in August and plan to establish an Indian subsidiary in September. Based on this, we aim to enter the U.S. and Indian markets in earnest. Previously, we focused on developers, but with the launch of the AI Interviewer, we intend to connect companies with talent in various fields such as marketing and sales.

Our ultimate goal is to create the 'optimal connection' between companies and talent through technology. We will continue to enhance our services to support recruiters in preparing well for applicant interviews and selecting suitable talent through the AI Interviewer, and to enable companies without recruiters to hire suitable talent as if they had recruiters. We aim to become the best partner that accelerates company growth by improving both the quality and speed of recruitment.
